Recently bought an old Alex Henry 450 BPE. Got a couple Nitro for black data, but ran into a snag today while ordering reloading items. It seems that things have changed since the days I loaded smokeless handgun rounds. Apparently it's not legal to sell and ship smokeless powders to Mass residents. So I'm asking any and all Mass residents here if they know of any store selling smokeless powders, in particular IMR4198. Also, bordering states would be welcome as well. Seems like a hopeless request but I gotta try. Thanks.

That is Mass for ya. Don't know of any places, I would try Cabelas or Kittery, as suggested above.

Where in MA are you located?

I live in Mass. and I get powder shipped to me regularly.
Try "Gamaliel Shooting Supply". That's who I use. Or try Powder Valley Inc. They both ship to me with no problem.

The law used to be that you needed a permit from the local fire chief stating that you had a secure place to store. BP you could only have two pounds of at one time. I will speak with my nephew as he is reloading all kinds of smokeless powdered ammo. He shoots both rifle and pistol. My brother reloads shotgun for trap shooting and has no problem getting powder either.

THANK YOU SXSMAN1!!!!!!! I just telephoned Gamaliel Shooting Supply and ordered my powder and primers. A courteous southern gentleman took my order and checked to ensure whatg I wanted was in stock. A couple bucks more than Powder Valley, but the key was that it was open today and I REALLY wanted to talk with someone to make sure I cold order.

In case you're wondering, it was MIDWAY USA whose customer service rep told me they weren't allowed to ship HAZMAT to Massaschusetts.

But NO problem at all ordering from Gamaliel today, which along with Powder Valley Inc has been saved as a favorite on my PC.

I guess it must be a company policy with Midway(?) The odd thing was I didn't question it at all, being used to living in the Kennedy Compound with Two-Face Patrick at the helm.

Chistech - Don't bother going through the trouble, I got the problem resolved with the help of member sxsman1. But thank you very much for offering to check, and thanks to all my Mass brothers who got as upset as I did! By the way, the town I live in (Indian Orchard) is in western Mass, technically a part of Springfield. But no native "Orchard person" will ever say that. The town started as a village long ago, has it's own Post Office, library (Carnegie), fire station, and HAD it's own Police Station at one time too. The only thing Springfield has done for Indian Orchard is dump its trash here since the 70s.

At least S&W is in Springfield and you can shoot there! LOL I live in Dartmouth even closer to the Kennedy compound down on the south coast. Luckily we still have some hunting areas and I'm less than one mile from a city owned shooting range that even the National guard shoots at. I don't think it will ever be closed.(hopefully)

Your welcome Krakow Kid,

I tried to order overshot wads from 'Midway USA" and they refused to ship them (just paper circles) they said they won't ship anything to Massachusetts that is used in the manufacture of ammunition.
