I have a 20 gauge double sxs Zabala. takes 3 inch magnum shells. I had firing pin problems. I had those replaced at great expense because my smith said he couldn't get them out and other problems. The pins broke the FIRST time I hunted with it. I did shoot a number of rounds of skeet etc... and I am guessing the stock doesn't fit me well because I shot much better with other guns. Anyway, having the right pin malfunction the FIRST time I put a bead on a bird with this gun well it sorta soured me on it and it took my gunsmith so long to fix the pins... well... that double soured me. I am looking to sell it. Unfortunatley between the pins and getting a LimbSaver put on it (it really did kick sharply BEFORE the upgraded pad) I have put nearly $300 INTO it in fixes improvements. The sharp recoil is no more.
The gun looks nice for a workingman's gun. Nice engraving. But I don't think it is for me.

Hermanos Zabala is one of the low end Spanish gun makers and has been for many years. There original imports were terrible( circa 1970's). Today they are imported under the BSA label. This go round is the contract that Weatherby canceled 2-3 years ago over quality concerns(400 guns according to the Blue Book). I have both a 12 and a 28. They seem to be just fine, go bang when the trigger is pulled, chrome lined barrels inside and black chrome outside. Color case is there but thin. Wood to metal is good but not excellent. Stock demensions are fine with some cast off(R handed gun). Wood finish is good but not excellent. Grain/figure is better than many higher dollar European guns. All in all a resonable entry level gun. Don't think they have done too well in the market place however. Best, Dr. Bill

They will have to stay "good" for a long time to overcome the reputation they established in the 1970's - the market has a very long memory.

I bought a nearly-new 10 ga 3 1/2" Zabala via internet auction, for waterfowling near the Salton Sea. It seems sound and looks decent on the outside, but workmanship on parts that don't show is poor. The furthest I have had occasion to get into it is forend disassembly, because the latch didn't seem smooth. I soon found out why.
