Not true. The first time I got kicked off the Parker site it was because I had dared to misquote The Parker Story to a tiny degree and the old lady who help write it got her panties in a wad.

I have no explanation for the courtesy and generosity of another site of professional and technical competence, visited almost entirely by Americans, where there is none of the rude and boorish behaviour exhibited here. Is it because flying and building aircraft brings out the best in us and guns our weakness? How to account for the dignified and decent Americans who I've met and worked with face-to-face all over America for 60 years and the spite and spleen that spills over us here? Beats me.

I've often wondered if the obnoxious, rude, and annoying posters that frequent internet sites act the same in the "real world". I've come to regard them as teachers. I've learned from them how I never want to be. Kinda brings meaning to the phrase, "It must suck to be you".

I would imagine that no government is trying to restrict your rights to build or fly aircraft might be part of it.Few of us will ever own or fly aircraft while many of us like to shoot,hunt or collect firearms.

In the extended crowd I hang around with there are a couple aircraft/pilot guys. They are both over 60 years old. Both are pains in the asses. What do I mean by that? Constantly wanting to borrow tools - tools they have used more times than you have. Constantly expecting good deals - no, scaldingly good deals - on anything you have for sale. Constantly wanting top dollar for their sub-standard bits and pieces they are selling. They seem to have gone through life with their hand out. My brother calls them 'Karma Thieves' which is as good a description as any.

I don't know how they are on the internet but in real life they are miserable humans to see pull into your driveway.

You may be right about some pilots. The point I made is that wherever they are or whatever they do their frailties don't diminish their obligation to good manners when they post to their brothers on the Net.

As for the cost of flying, I can truthfully say as a person who uses aircraft in my work, that guns have been more of a financial burden.
