It fired after oiling the firing pins and makes a pretty good dent in the primer.Should I try to take it appart and oil the springs,or could it be the ammo.

It would really help to know what firearm you are talking about. How old is the ammo?

GUSTAV GENSCHOW
A GERMAN 9.3X74R BOXLOCK NON-EJECTOR RIFLE,
25 1/2-inch barrels with machined rib and folding leaf sights, crossbolt extension, the clam shell scroll backed frame with bouquet and scroll engraving, 14 1/2-inch figured replacement stock, 8lb., German nitro proof.
$4000 I would trade for a S/S shotgun or wife of equal value.

The ammo is new.

Some modern ammo for the 9,3x74R has noticeably thin rims which can result in misfires in older rifles. My memory is certainly not what it used to be, but as I recall the rims should be near .055" thick - see also http://stevespages.com/jpg/cd93x74r.jpg (not mine)
