I recently purchased a brass oil bottle at a flea market for 5 $ and am wondering if i can get info on it

It has 2 numbers on it (identical) on the cover and the bottle. I presume it's a serial number or something. And it has wd engraved and a coronet with a 16 written under it. it's about 4 in long and has a diameter of 3/4"

Any info as to who made it would be greatly appreciated

WD and a 16? Obviously a rare and valuable WD 40 prototype. The only more valuable prototype is the even more rare WD 27 which has hand engraving and English Walnut furniture. Can you post a picture?

sounds like it could be a Lee Enfield oil bottle
16 could be the year of manufacture WD most likely the contracter or even war department
I am assuming this oil bottle is a straight piece with a twist top and a spatula on the lid?
are you sure it is a D there was a maker WH Briscoe & Co
