I was just shopping for some LL Bean Maine Hunting Shoes (boots) in the 16inch version and the thought struck me that I have never seen anyone dressed in European hunting attire, i.e., breeks, etc wearing any of these tall boots. They would certainly seem well fitted for wear with breeks. Anyone else ever thought about this? Or, has anyone ever seen anyone wear them with this type clothing? Or, do I just have too much time on my hands?!?!?!

Most of hunting gears and cloth made in China today. So what the difference?
LL Bean Maine - too much lacing IMO.

In some hunters "fashion" catalogs you can see breeks combined with tall boots so it should be no problem.
Here in Middle Europe (Mitteleuropa) breeks were traditionally combined with low shoes, or heavy goiserers, or tall rubber boots, depending on terrain and weather - as a rule combined with heavy socks. Maybe the most "proper" tall leather boots to be carried with Continental breeks (Kniebundhose) are laceless type such as Meindl's Kiruna or Tatra.
With kind regards,
Jani

Over the years I've tried two pair of the LL Bean boots and they both rubbed blisters on my feet...they look cool but no more Beans for me.

Many in the UK wear what we would call lace up hunting boots with breeks IF the going isn't too wet.

When there can be only one, Hunter Sovereigns are my choice.

Out there doing it best I can.

Perry,
I have those tall Bean boots and have worn them with a pair of vintage Filson "knickers," with great success through knee deep snow, plus, and its a big plus, I looked great doing it.
Geno is correct - they take a LONG time to get on and off. If time is an issue, I like the Le Chameau boots and maybe a more upscale pair of breeks.
I am hooked on breeks, I wish they were a bit more in style.
In good weather, I always ski (alpine) in the breeks along with some other "old school" wool for the torso.
