Joe,
FYI My other 20 gauge tube burst in the chamber area yesterday. Failed the same place as the other one(at the ejector cut.) Both tubes have a couple of thousand rounds through them. These are 32" 20 gauge Companion tubes that I shoot in a Browning 525 Sporting. Shell's were 7/8 oz Winchester Promo's.
Back to Briley again.

"Burst" is too strong a word to describe a tube crack. Explain yourselves a bit more accurately. Briley 20 gauge tubes are a bit thin at the ejector cut and crack occasionally without damage to the gun. They normally cooperate with the customer to fix the tube to everyone's satisfaction.

These are the off the shelf versions they sell that are not fitted to a specific gun. Call it what you want, but when a tubular member fails under (internal) pressure it is a burst to me. They were good to fix the other one pretty promptly and I had to pay shipping only. If the failure rate is going to be this high, I'll pass them on to someone else that doesn't shoot as much as I do.

It's my understanding that the off the shelf tubes have a type of nylon bushing or bump on the side to help them fit....maybe that's the problem ?

Too much room for expansion inside the(barrel) chamber and the tube chamber is not strong enough to contain the pressure. The nylon buttons have a tendency to fall off also. I think I've convinced myself to buy a dedicated 20 ga Sporting gun a quit fooling with these.

Hey Joe, Your a bright guy. So many people are afraid of installing brileys in an nice gun, it is foolish. I have a very nice LC Smith Specialty grade FW. It was restored, so it is not original, so I didn't hesitate. Now I love the gun even more. Same goes for a friend who had a nice , custom Model 21. Choked so tight he could hit any clays with it. Put briley's in and he has won a few contests with it!. I buy my guns to shoot.

Probably zero problems with the 12/28ga tubes as more steel in that area, ditto for 410 in 12.

I've shot with a set of the old Savage "410ers" for years in various 12 gauges without a hitch. Jim
