I get a kick out of some of the auction prices but this one has to be one of the funnier ones. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=62390070 A grand for a beater Nitro Special. Wow.

P.T. Barnum was right. Let's see which side the sucker falls on; buyer or seller.

I repeat: "why are folks paying these ridiculous prices for hardware store doubles?" I can understand a little of it when the smaller gauges are offered --- but I passed on a near mint 12 ga. Nitro Special at the last Kane County show -- for $450. And have no regrets. Cabelas has a Western Long Range 16 for 800+ dollars. A fool and his money ---- Chopperlump

This guy has six pages of auctions, and not a bid on any one of them. I saw a couple of other doubles with the same guy for 2x the market price.
I think he just uses GB to advertise, the real deals are done on the telephone.

I wouldn't call it a beater, an over-priced hardware store gun that's true, but at least the gun looks to be in good shape. Steve

What is an "A" grade 20 gage worth with approximately 50% case colors? Chris

More than a Sterlingworth 20 if you go by this gun and the selling price. Hard to get a grand for a Fox Sterlingworth in this condition. A "beater" is a solid gun that has little or no great collectors value and has seen hard use or less than nice care. This gun is a beater, not a closet queen or even a parts gun. Good to shoot and not a worry about making it less atractive.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=62498083Why would anyone pay a grand for a Nitro beater when they could buy a NID for half the amount, in far better condition? I would have bought this gun my self but I already have several which do not get used enough already.

No matter what you say it's all subjective, let's just agree to disagree and let it go at that.

I have a bunch of Nitros..I'll sell them all to anybody who would pay $1000.00 each for them.
