Isn't one allowed to have handguns in DC? Maybe not concealed carry I guess.
Yep, smokey hats are pretty odd looking on the DC mall.

Clinton declared a huge area in Northern Arizona a National Park in the waning days of his administrarion. I used to do some exploring in this area and, after seeing some on the others in there, There's no way I'd go back unarmed. Jim
Jim, Most of the Grand Staircase Escalante is in Utah and is a National Monument. The rules are much stricter than if it were a National Park. Incidently, the single largest proven reserve of 'clean burning' coal in the USA is under the Escalante and now off limits.......

Mike: I agree since we have what was the first Natl. Monument at Casa Grande. Curiously enough I got to really explore this site due to Bill Clinton. When he shut down Federal services due to lack of money in the 90s all the personal left the site. I spent the better part of the day walking around and observing things that most people had not seen in almost 100 years. It's a shame what these places keep from mere citizens view as I was able to look at some painted pottery shards the likes of which I hadn't seen before. Jim

Indeed it is Mr. Hughes- you wanta see Smokey The Bear hats? Visit MCRD at either San Diego or Parris Island or OCS at Quantico-lotsa them, and all "A-Jay Squared Away Marines" wearing them. Just saw that two Yellowstone Park employees were caught pissin' in Old Faithful, right out there in front of God and all--I'd just as soon stroll through Harlem NY in a white sheet and hood as to visit any of our Western parks without carrying-a haven for druggies and thugs preying on the "turistas" who usually aren't paying much attention to others, typical vacationers- strange areas, strange people, sometimes strange food and water- the worst time to "relax" and let your guard down today- and the evildoers know that--

I haven't heard of a plethora of druggies preying on touristas in National Parks. Can you point to where this is happening? I spend a good deal of time in parks and never seen any such BS.

Brent Let me know when you want to come down here and I will gladly turn you loose in one of our National Parks unarmed naturally. I will give you a cell phone which you can use to call for help which I don't expect will take much time. I personally know of a couple of places where you'll be calling in under 5 minutes. Druggies are fairly harmless but Mexican Nationalist are a different sort altogether. Jim

I lived in the Phoenix area for 20 years and was an avid backpacker. It helped that I wasn't married at the time. I have hiked the Mexican border but that was before the huge influx of illegals started. Then I moved to Utah, driving through the edge of the Escalante a number of times as I made multiple trips to get all my stuff to SLC. I really miss Arizona and Utah, but I do not miss Phoenix. It is not the 'small' city of my youth.
