One of my friends hunts big game. He says there is nothing dumber than a male mammal that thinks he is going to get laid. So if I were 30 years younger and interested in a modern SxS I might think "Hey! I will get one of those Fausti side by sides, and who knows, maybe I will run into one of those Fausti chicks while I am out hunting. Yes, that definitely is another way to look at the Fausti girls promotion. That should sell a shotgun or two.

UG, I think the LC Smiths sold by Marlin are essentially the same gun but at a lower price, only cosmetic differences. I think the d'Italia does have nicer wood. Just depends on which way you want to go.

Larry,
The Marlin DB is less expensive, and it looks it. I'd rather go $500 extra for the look & feel of the Athena D'Italia. The Marlin looks butt ugly! They'll be dropping them from their lineup any day now. I'm sure they're not selling too good.

I see that Remington has dropped their O/U. Too bad it was a nice gun.

That so called LC Smith is a peice of crap, made to a low price point. When they first came out, I picked one up to check out at a well known local gunshop. I looked it over, shook my head. The owner walked by then, hefted the gun and said "What a piece of crap!!"

Will some one tell me why old established US gun companies such as Remington and Marlin, are totally unable to tap into a market Tony Galazan is making millions off of??

Well . . . Ruger tried, with the Gold Label. Maybe that scared off the others. And Remington and Marlin are now the same company.

Ruger was trying to roll their own. Guess they realized after the initial attempt that it was cost prohibitive.....at $1950. The last MSRP on their website was like $3200.....I think they saw a limited market for a high priced shotgun and finally just pulled the project. And, it's not Rugers thing to go outside the company to have guns built.

I'm sure sales for the Rem O/U were not great (as with the Marlin LC's) and probably cost increases were in the wind with their foreign MFG connections.........so, the Rem doubles were dropped. The LCs will probably be discountinued shortly (I think bringing out the LCs was a big mistake anyways).


How about the S&W Turkish made doubles? Will they survive? I'm thinking not!

My own humble opinion is that Remington and thus Marlin, and now Ruger have a few too many MBAs and not enough real gunmakers. Galazan is a gunmaker and is he ever making them!
I say this as an MBA (Boston U '79) myself.

FWIW, I shot my new RBL-28 yesterday. Very nice indeed!!
