Hello,

Do you know where I can find appropriate bullet moulds for the 500-3" BPE cartridge? I am looking for 340, 380, and 440 grain bullet moulds. Do any of you know where I might find dimensioned drawings for these bullets? Thank you for your help.

One to try may be Jim Allison of Cast Bullet Engineering of Menai, Sydney; they've been doing excellent quality moulds for a bunch of relatively obscure guns for a long time.

Jimmy I got lucky and found an original .500 BPE mold. I actually found two. I bought one and it should arrive from England before the end of the month. The owner couldn't tell me the weight of the cast bullet as he doesn't reload or cast. It looks good in the photos.

The first thing you need to bow is the bore size. Have you slugged the barrels? There are many mould makers around. o you want to cast your own or do you just want to make smoke? Sometimes it's cheaper to buy some already made if you're not going to shoot it alot.
I'd suggest looking here for moulds and pre-cast bullets.

I have to admit that I am new to double rifles and I don't know how close is close enough with respect to bullet weights. The first place that I looked for bullets was Buffalo Arms but I didn't see exactly what I was looking for. They have a 350 grain and a 450 grain bullet that I could drill a hollow point in to yield 340 and 440 grain bullets but nothing close to 380 grains. I understand that the original black powder loads used either 340 or 380 grain bullets and that the nitro for black loading used 440 grain bullets. I intend to purchase a bullet mould for a black powder loading and one for a smokeless loading but I don't know what to order...

The 450 should be close enough. The bore size is very important. The slugs should be .001-.002 over bore size. My 500 BPE slugs out at .512 on the left tube and .514 on the right.. Guess which ones been shot more!

I have an AH 500 mold that casts a hollow point paper patched bullet.
If you want some examples let me know.

I am interested in any Alexander Henry 500 bore moulds that you may have. Thank you for your help!

When my mold gets here I'll make the same offer of some cast bullets to those that want some.
