We are finally getting a modest duck season soon: http://www.theage.com.au/national/duck-hunting-back-after-threeyear-respite-20090204-7xly.htmlIt never fails to offer some of the most vehement rhetoric in the media each year it is called here. One of the nice provisions is that original muzzle loaders and damascus guns are exempt from the use of non-toxic shot. Quail season will be going ahead as usual too, with a 20 bird bag limit. It's a good day. RG

Good luck hunting the ducks!
The quail hunting sounds like it must be pretty good with a 20 bird limit.
Do you have birddogs?
Best,
Mike

The best part is the hunting!
The meal is just icing on the cake.

Yes, coturnix pectoralis or stubble quail; not much bigger than a sparrow. It takes a long day and a lot of work and luck to bag out. RG

Glad to hear they've brought your duck season back. From what I'd read about it, I wondered if it would ever be opened again. Good luck!

"The Coalition Against Duck Shooting"
I wonder what their position is on the subject of duck hunting seasons? Nice open minds. Sounds like people not willing to let facts get in the way of their viewpoints. Good to see that not all the idiots are in the US.

The coalition against duck shooting is tiny, but unfortunately noisy and influential, if deeply ignorant. RG

Be sure and take some pics, I love seeing how it's done in foreign lands.
