Slate, nice post. I'd love to hunt waterfowl in Alberta someday, but I hardly consider using a Model 12 as going to the dark side. I thought you were going to say you bought a black gun like the Benelli Nova or something!

Slate, thanks for the information.

Sounds like I'll have at least a couple of sleepless nights in anticipation of the opener! Down here in Indiana I've only seen white-fronts in the fields once...and never had a shot. I'd love to get a few. I've heard they are the best eating goose out there.

Nice report, Slate, and I couldn't agree more with other comments posted. Obviously for many of us lovers of old doubles, the operative word is "old." We're traditionalists and nostalgists who prefer to do it the old way with the old tools -- regardless of the barrel count. I own a Benelli SBE and acknowlege that it is probably the most efficient duck killing "machine" in my safe, but I can't remember the last time I took it on a hunt. It has no stories to tell. The Lefever 10, my Birmingham fowler, a Model 12 or my dad's Rem Model 11 ... those are my go-to guns for the duck blind! TT
