engine turning is those overlapping swirls on the unblued steel.

The pictures are good but shoot one of the markings on the water table(the frame under the barrels).

It looks like the serial number on the barrel flats and the forearm iron has been polished out by the engine turning.

A W, what were you thinking!

I know, I can relate to the indiscretions of youth!

No, their not better. Too close! All shots of(and too many of) the proof marks. What's that about? And still no shots of the water table!

I guess it is about not knowing that the damn gun had a water table, whatever that is. I am now assuming this is where the part of the receiver the barrel connects into? Correct?

That's right. Don't worry about the short tempered remarks you get from the old hands around here; we're happy to help where we can, even if we come off like a bunch of old goats sometimes...Geo

I guess it could be a factory upgrade. As I recall, the Custom Shop was pretty heavy handed on the engine turning when doing upgrades from Field Grade. It's hard to do vivid engine turning over stampings without losing some of the definition of the stamping. Again, I would go back to Cody with a request for more information. I once got an unsolicited letter from Cody a year after the original letter about the installation of a second set of barrels for a 21.

I hope I got these pictures correct. There is one watermark on the righthand side. Hard for the camera to focus on it, but it is a nice deep stamp.
