I realize that my post will add nothing scholarly to this discussion. But I do wish to echo RDH45's comments, in that I would really love to see a coffee table version of your book. Beautiful color pictures combined with your scholarly writings and detective work would be absolutely wonderful.

Thanks for the kind words, you two are not alone. I am working as hard and fast as I can on the "Big Book" but there is a lot to do until then. I am still actively researching and publishing what I learn. I have written several articles after the publication of my book and it will not be long before I think about another of the "Small Book" of articles. My biggest problem is as soon as I publish on a subject I learn better, new, more accurate or find that I was just plain wrong. I know that someday I'll just have to say STOP and publish what I have up to then.
Not that it matters to others but I also have to decide how much money I can afford to lose on the "Big Book" ;-).

Well, as far as costs go I say take pre-publication orders to get some cash. I'll take two.

...I know that someday I'll just have to say STOP and publish what I have up to then. Michael: In the the manufacturing world that is refered to as "Time to shoot the engineer and begin production." It is just how life is. If you are doing it right your best work is yet to come. Howsomever, that does not make one's current work without merit. Besides, that is what they make second editions for... Glenn

The authors of The Parker Story went through the same agony about publishing before they were through. They decided to publish when they got to about eight pounds of book. They will not consider going through the continued agony of a second edition, but the finished product of the first edition is a research masterpiece. I agree with Glenn. Whenever it is time to publish, it is time to publish.

But for the time being, I would be satisfied with a heads up on when your articles appear in PS so those of us who don't subscribe can order individual copies. :-)

Another vote for pre-selling the product and letting your readers fund the publication expenses. Worked for the Parker book (although I do have to admin beginning to wonder if I would ever see the finished product after I sent in my payment and time passed and passed and passed).

MP, you know the discussions we went through before a fourth party (whose initials are Dave Weber) named this forum. I recommend you make every attempt to name the "Book" to appeal to the masses if possible.
