I'm very close to acquiring a nice 16b Lefever H grade with twist barrels. I would have preferred chain damascus, but the rest of the gun is in great original shape, great wood, no cracks, original buttplate, etc., and I couldn't pass it up. I was just curious how many of you own similar guns and shoot them regularly.

I'm really looking forward to reloading low pressure loads for it, possibly even black powder. If anyone has any spare Federal Monarch purple 16ga paper hulls (or loaded shells) they don't need, or want to sell, let me know.

I shoot a 16b 1889 Remington and a Parker underlifter with twisty barrels. No problem.

I have been shooting an 1899 16ga Parker hammer 0 frame with twist barrels for 40 years. Before I knew better, I used any shells at hand except for the 2 3/4 "magnums." For the last 30 years, handloaded to the 7,000-range. I don't use black powder.

I shoot close to weekly a B grade Baker. Probably average close to 200 shots a month through it. All shells are my smokeless hand loads in the 6500-7000 psi range.

Twist or damascus for me for many years. I still believe steel is just a passing fad. Shot a fairly large sporting clay event today in the Panhandle and I mixed it up with a 1900 Lefever G and my 1870 W & C Scott hammer gun. Didn't feel the least handicapped shooting against the latest and greatest zip guns (though I was a LONG way from winning--par for me).

Mainly my Remington 1894 A grade damascus is used for a door prop, and it looks good doin' it. A couple of outtings a season with Gamebore blackpowder shells and then it's back to standing guard. Last line of defense against the hungry freeloaders and my pot of crow 'n rice bubbling on the stove.

Some of you guys are confusing "twist" with Damascus.

I noticed that also jOe. I shoot a Lefever "H" with twist bbls as my "go to" clays gun. This year alone, about 1100 shots through it. I use a 1oz load with PB for the powder. Remington Green hulls.
