I've had a local (<100 mi. away) seemingly knowledgeable fellow work on a nice set of 16 ga. Parker Bros. barrels doing some rust re-blue work. He seems to think the barrels are worth about $2k. He has been paid in full for the work.
He was having trouble planning a trip my way to deliver them. Without my permission or knowledge, he packaged the barrels and gave them to a woman he didn't really know very well (a friend of his wife) to carry them back to my neighborhood. He didn't tell her what was in the tube, nor even indicate the package was valuable.
Well, she "forgot" about them, and left them in some fourth party's car, where they have now been for a couple nights. He called the "friend" and upset her and her husband so badly they are now seeing red, and took it out on me when I contacted them.
Should I be in a snit about this too? Is this just a couple increments of bad judgement on the gunsmith's part, or just bad luck on mine?
What would you do?
He's lucky he got his barrels back.

Now Chuck I am going to spell it out for you before Phil jumps on you again. ...
Chuck I will be out at the bird dog club tomorrow and will not be able to explain things to you.
Best,
Mike Mike, Sorry, I got yesterday's paper but didn't have time to read it. Besides, most times I just look at the pitchurs. I'll try and keep up with my homework in the future.

The way I see it, eeb, if the guy didn't insure their safety back to the owers, his reputation should go through the mud............And Barry, don't concern yourself with what Mark twain said. Just keep in mind what I always said- A bird in the hand is worth a push in the bush...........Denny Crane

Jimmy- my Buckeye pal- OK with passing on Mark Twain, if that's your call-but with two "Bush-Leaguers" in the White House- the Dad and Lad combo- huumm- I wonder 'bout dat! The late Ernest Hemingway once said he thought Mark Twain was the best American writer ever-I'd agree!!

Right back atcha Mr. N.W. Kansas- Like Josie Wales said to the "not quite right in da haid" gal from Kansas- Sunflowers and Sonsabitches- the old First Amendment sure is a bitch, maybe I'll throw in a quote from old Sammy Langhorn Clements-well I've got broad shoulders, and now, along with Shoeless Joseph and Lowell Glenthorne 111- ESQ- I can now ignore the last dollar I'll never spend- ain't America great, and the Kansas State Song-"Dust In The Wind" to boot!!
