When we read the pronouncements of Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the 2nd amendment, it is plain that he envisioned a general right to bear arms. This right was not framed exclusively in order to allow citizens to defend their homes against intruders. The 2nd amendment was adopted to insure that a free people retained the right to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. Thus the 2nd amendment to the Constitution is a logical extension of the Declaration of Independence.

It's now time for all of us to get to work. If you have friends and associates who are undecided take the time to explain the significance of this decision and how we almost lost an important individual constitional right. Even if they're NOT gun enthusiats ask them what other constitional right the wouldn't mind giving up? Perhaps the 5th ammendment that protects all of us from self incrimination should have been next? Or perhaps the 4th which protects us from unreasonable search and seizure should be eliminated?
With the November election fast approaching it time we start drawing a very sharp line between McCain and Obama. While McCain isn't my first choice he's miles ahead of Obama who is a dedicated gun grabber and whose votes in congress prove it.
Again ask your friends who may be undecided if they really want someone in the White House who can and would appoint an individual to the Supreme Court who would be willing to take away your constitional rights?
