Hi all, just kind of curious here. Is it difficult to convert a ST to a DT? Is it cost effective? If so, who does this type of work and the general cost of this procedure.

Thanks all.

Greg

Depends on the gun. It cost me less than $200 to have my Beretta 686 converted to two triggers, but those parts are readily available. Might be a different story on an English or American gun.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

Dont let the Berreta be a guide...the parts are a simple swap, a very small amount of fitting and your ready to roll. Most guns will be more difficult and cost more.

Greg,
If you have a specific gun or two in mind, knowing what make they are and whether or not the triggerplates have two slots or one would be helpful.

For example; the Browning BSS guns have two slots in the triggerplate already set up for the double triggers. Converting a BSS to a double trigger arrangement would be a matter of making the triggers and gutting the single trigger mechanism, then fitting the double triggers. Still no cake walk, but not too bad.

On the otherhand, my old NID single trigger has the triggerplate with a single wide slot that would have to be welded shut and remachined, then the sears, which are curved upward would have to be straightened and new triggers fitted. It'd be easier to just steal parts from another DT NID. But the above illustrates the type of work if parts can't be found and have to be reworked or made.

I looked into having this done to an English sidelock. The gun had been made with DTs and then converted to a Miller ST.

Changing it back to DTs was a major job with a major bill - I think it was around $3000.

I decided against doing it.

I thought about it. The preliminary estimate was $1,500. Actual cost unknown. Sort of like a government contract--time and materials.
I decided against it.

Have a Parker with a Miller SST and was thinking of the same thing. The estimated cost was over $1000 so I too decieded against the project.

Double Eagle Trading will convert a Winchester 101 from single to double trigger. I think the cost is around $400, and uses Winchester parts originally for a European version of the Winchester 101 which had double triggers.
