Rocketman or anyone else care to comment on the desirability/value of a sidelever hammergun by Stephen Grant, damascus bbls, mechanically excellent, cosmetics usual patina, not pitted, some light dings in action and bbl. Not looking for a precise number, just a swag or comparative factor vs. your usual English hammergun.

Is the gun sound and in proof? minimum wall? Grant made various grades of guns although all were made to a very high standard. The value could vary significantly. Of course as a gun dealer I'm sure you are at least somewhat aware of the range in quality within many british makers' offerings. I believe Grant guns are considered to be in the second tier of engilsh gunmakers and do command a premium although quantification of the premium would be difficut based on the information given and would depend on many factors. Rocketman's spread sheet will give you a number but pictures and dimensions of the piece would tell more.

As I understand it Stephen Grant only made best quality guns, I have a 500 BPE side lever made for an Indian Prince in 1907 which cost him 125 Guineas, They are exqisite guns, if the price is reasonable buy it.

Stephen Grant was an excellent gun maker. Sidelevers were sort of Grant's niche or thing in gun making. The sidelevers I've seen typically go around $7000-$8000 when in good safe opertating condition.

Definately make sure the gun is in proof and capable of handling what you intend to shoot in it!
