Yogi, You are dead bang right. The Second Amendment was written by revolutionaries to protect the people from oppressive governments.

Of course, the framers also believed that free men should have the freedom to own guns. A natural right.

But, we live in modern regulated times. We just do. Jake

It's called the "Guns and Butter Rule": When things go to hell, if you keep your guns, you'll keep your butter.

Some people invest in gold, I invest in lead.

I believe it is important to not discriminate between any type of firearm. I live in one of the 40 states that allows machine guns and do enjoy shooting them in competition. A firearm of any kind in the wrong hands is bad. Lets not start grouping guns in a "good" gun or "bad" gun category. After the 1934 National Firearms Act was passed shoulder stocked Colt 1860 army revolvers were contraband if they were not regestered. That was resolved in the 1950's.

If they had to outlaw something in the interest of the public good, alcohol would a far more meaningful choice.

I think the Volstead Act was found not to be a great success.

Anytime you outlaw anything it tends to make it more popular. The best way to ensure you wrote a best seller in the past was to make sure it was banned in Boston.

This DC handgun thing was brough before the court by an anti in sheep's clothing. No way a night watchman has the clout, or means - a well thoughtout plan by the leftist.
