Can anyone refer me to some good sites to sell desirable vintage Fishing books (mostly fly) and gear?

I'd rather list many of them at a topical (referably well healed) enthusiast site than the usual ebay/craigs list sort of thing.

Thanks,
Lee

email me at goobr01 at comcast.net if you would rather not post here. Obviosuly if anyone here wanted any of them I would gladly pay Dave.

Particularly if you have bamboo-oriented items, the Classic Fly Rod Forum has a Classified Section

You'll have to register there, it's no big deal.

Lee, I don't now for certain about rods, but I know that vintage rifle scopes are, by far, best sold on EBay. Of that there is not a doubt. I buy and sell them from time to time and ebay is the place to sell. Everywhere else is the place to buy. That most especially includes the specialty gun sites.

I would say ebay would be the best place. It is the first place people look for things to buy if they have a computer. Good luck.

Lee-
I would recommend Jim Adams, proprietor of Adams Angling. He does not have a website, but he sends out several catalogs a year. He specializes in "Fine Bamboo Fly Rods, Quality Fly Reels, Fly Fishing Tackle, and Used, Old, &Rare Books on Fishing and Hunting". The last catalog I received listed 671 recently acquired books, about 75 used fly rods, about 100 used reels, and several sets of flies. He says he has "about 5000" books listed on http://www.abebooks.com. I have bought from him and was pleased. His phone # is 510-849-1324, FAX # 510-883-9257, email address: adamsangling@comcast.net.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't done a full inventory of which books, rods, and tying stuff that I want to sell yet.

A couple higlights of the books;
a second edition/first printing of Ernest Schwiebert's "Trout" in excellent condition in original slipcase dedicated/signed (both volumns signed but vol 1 has nice dedication to me).

I see prices for this version anywhere from $100 to $650+ on ABE. Ebay tends to be lower to middle (someone always winds up selling things for $10).

There is also a full set of Lefty Kreh's "little library". Many of them still in plastic wrap.

a bunch of others. some signed, some not. some first editions and some not.
I'll have to do my research and come up with a list and prices.

I only have one bamboo rod. I am not certain of the maker but it is signed "mity-mite", HFH (old line rating for double taper 4wt or weight forward 5 wt). 5'9" 2 piece honey colored bamboo with pale yellow wraps and aluminum slip rings over cork grip/seat.

it weighs 2.1 oz!

It is in excellent condition with a SWEET crisp dry fly action.

I don't know what it is worth yet. I suppose that I could always take it to the local trout unlimited meeting and see what I could do there.

I have to see what other gear I wuld want to sell (probably a Ross Gunnison reel with extra spool) as well as extra tying stuff (Renzetti master(?) vise, some high quality (1, 2), etc) metz/similar hackles and such).
