Anybody have any experience with Seminole Gunworks in Mims, FL? I'm thinking about having the chokes on a Spanish Boxloxk opened.

First class work in every way. I MUCH prefer them to Briley's for the same work. They also do the best job of forcing cone lengthening I have seen on clays guns, they cut a long cone and polish it out so well it disappears when you look for it. Your Spanish boxlock might benefit from that also. Their final polish work is better than any I have seen, at least on the several clays guns they have worked on for me. My guns go to Florida for such work, not Texas.

They did an OK but not great job of fitting a set of Tikka 512 barrels, but they did a fine job or forcing cone lengthening. This was about 10 years back.

Thanks for your input. Im gonna have the fixed chokes opened from mod./full to .004" and .007". Almost all my shooting is done within 15 or 20 yards. Does that seem like a reasonable choice?

I live about 40 minutes from their shop. I've had them open chokes on 2 vintage guns. I asked for 006/014 one and 010/020 on the other. When I got home and checked them with my Skeets gauges they were dead on. They chuck the bbls up in a lathe to do the work so the alignment should be good. They are big into sporting clays. They do not work on 410's.

Daniel,

Make the trip.

I took my clays gun there for bore-matched choke tubes. They were really nice to deal with and the choke tubes are excellent. I also purchased one of their customized 390's and loved it until my daughter talked me out of it (she seems to do that with a lot of things). Their trigger work was great.

Just be aware that it's not the easiest place to find. The sign out by the highway, at least when I was there, was for their machine shop operation and did not mention Seminole. I would call for directions.
