Sorry Jag, this is about my 3rd update and I didn't want to bore anyone with the details again.
This is our first effort at putting together a fun shoot for classic SxS fellowship and an opportunity to meet some 'imaginary internet friends'
The shoot is Sat. March 1 at the Tucson Trap and Skeet Club in SW Tucson. Infro and directions are on the website
http://www.tucsontrapandskeet.com/I have not reserved rooms anywhere, but they have lots of RV sites. We hope to attract folks out in Phoenix and Tucson for 'Paradise Season' golf and Spring Training, and the shoot is the Sat. before the SASS Winter Range up at Ben Avery.
As a fun shoot, your registration is to show up with a neat old gun and a smile. And any old gun is fine, but I'll record the high scores on the different events only for SxSs. I hope guys bring out some Ithaca and Parker SBTs for the the 16 yd Trap event, and I'll record high scores for both SBT and DBT. There are NO prizes or trophies.
Participants will purchase targets, as few or many as they wish, at $7 per 25.
The club opens at 8:30 and shooting at 9:00. I'm not going to squad anyone, shooters can just buy targets and head to the discipline they wish to shoot, with whomever they want to shoot. The club usually closes about 1 pm, and has a full service grill serving breakfast and lunch.
Donations (
checks only so you can receive an acknowledgment for taxes) will be accepted for the the benefit of The Theodore Roosevelt Association
http://www.theodoreroosevelt.org/and period dress is encouraged. Looking like this guy will probably get you awarded some targets
I let Dave Moore know about the shoot but had no response. Anyone spending time in Phoenix would enjoy drooling over William Larkin Moore's new showroom in Scottsdale while here.
My hope is that this will grow to a Vintagers like event, but with a classic
American gun and culture atmosphere. Again, feel free to e-mail me if I can answer any other questions.
For the record, I'm not a professional shoot organizer, this was my idea but will the TTSC's event, and I have no commercial interest in the shoot (and just spent $150 for the banners-which should last for many years.)
