GUN PORN, in the form of the lustly pages of the Double Gun Journal and Shooting Sportsman is the problem. throw away the magazines and don't visit this web site again. P.S. don't look at the Parker A number 1s in the latest installment of the DGJ.

Perry I'm so sorry but you have been seriously infected having handled both a Remington 1894 and a Lefever!!! I didn't want to scare the general public so I purposely withheld dire information concerning the handling and ownership of high grade Germans especially Merkels!!! Once again I am so so sorry!!!!!!!!!

Genetics and exposer to some sort of virus, many are stricken and remain slaves to the affliction the rest of their lives. No immediate cure visible on the horizon but some relief is available by the purchase of a gun from time to time, for some inexplicable reason. --- John Can.

Life is short so enjoy your affliction as best you can. I spent 20 years collecting Winchester Model 70's. Ended up with a real nice collection that was very easy to move. That money ended up paying for the house that I sit in. So not all is lost if you use good judgment in what you buy and when you sell.
My double collection is now much greater than I ever expected it to become. Best guess is that it would pay for the next house if my wife decided to trade husbands. At least that is my hope. Who knows she might get an lawyer with a double addiction and he or she would end up with all my toys.

I suffer the same illness. However, I've found that perpetual poverty keeps the illness in check to a certain degree.

Disease? My kids are bringing home all kinds of colds and viruses from school. I think a nice 32" 60's trap gun with monte carlo and white line pad will provide a certain measure of protection; a preventive medicine of sorts. Especially if it's in excellent condition. No? I'm pretty sure it's going to cure what doesn't ail me.

Jeff,
Look at the positive side of it. What other known disease brings a smile to the face of the afflicted? Careful, don't answer that;-) Double guns don't talk back, disapprove of shooting nor misadventure afield, ask you to let them buy something equivalent, ask you if they look fat, model 24's & model 21's excepted [for certain individuals], nor do they take up a lot of room nor are they necessarily cumbersome. They are, as a rule, perfectly happy to be kept in the dark until needing to be used and then returned afterwards, thorougly cleaned & oiled first, of course. I could go on, but you get the idea.
My advise is to make the most of it while you have your remaining health about you, every day afield w/or w/o a dog is better than all other possible alternatives. That is, after all, what it was about. It has not changed. Remember that.
Life would be a good deal richer for some of us if we bought an adventure, like Steve Meyer(sp?), rather than another gun. Just a thot, you under stan'. Glad you brought this malady to the fore.

Well I Have Handled( or should I say Fondled) Some VERY Nice Remingtons Of Dad's Best friend!! I Have owned several doubles over the years, Several of which, I wish I had back! Lets see I have Handled a Couple of Nobles Remingtons, He Handed me a Skeet gun once that i believe he said he had about $15,000.00 in to it. I handled one he bought at a Gun show that he turned around & Sold for over $10,000. It was Not a Remington but it was a 2 gun deal for $700.00 or $750.00 One a Remington one a french double & When we looked it up it listed for $25,000.00 I have Handled one that was in the DGJ That They wouldn't even Guess at the Value of!!! I Am Sure now that my illness is terminal....Especially if my wife finds out about the gun I just put on Layaway at the sport shop!!!! So any of you that do know my wife. Say Nothing.. Please.?!
