Hi all, new to the forum and would like to say I really enjoy it. I just recently got a Fox A grade, an early one, and its going to need some work. I was wondering if I could still shoot it for a while without making it worse, or if I should wait until its mended. The problems are a top lever thats moved to center, a small bit of play in the foreend, and some looseness in the barrels. When the gun is closed, its absolutely tight, no play at all, forend on or off, but when its opened the barrels will move a bit. Also are there any gunsmiths you would recommend? thanks for any help
Tim

Tim, Welcome. It is very nice to have you join the discussions here. The early Fox A grade is a fine gun! Hopefully, you will get years of pleasure from it. Without seeing the gun up close, any answer is just a best guess. I see you are in PA. I can give you the name of someone local to me, who I trust, Dave Norin. http://www.davenoringunmaker.com/I am sure others will be able to help with some one closer. Pete

Tim: your great gun is probably well past a good check and clean, and if the action is loose, it will only get worse with continued use. Here are some doublegun specialists near you:

Welcome aboard. Your Fox is, indeed, a fine shotgun that will give more than another lifetime of great service, if attended to now. The smith that tends to its needs will first assure that it is clean and has no other problems. Good shooting and, again, welcome. Best, John
