. Rich, Thanks for the information on the Lefever Collectors Association.
May not be a collector piece, but should be a fun Upland Bird shooter over the Dog. Any other early Lefever half/grip 16's out there? ---- pics below.

Hey, O-D, they're ALL collector pieces! Most are also shootable. Roy

O-D,
I agree with Roy completely. They're all collectible, and you have a beauty there! Congratulations. Great piece of wood. Nice case color. Enjoy it.

Back to top for Tim.
After looking at Tim Carney's Lefever C 10ga, I noticed it has bushed firing pins and a concave rib like my 16ga "E" mentioned in this thread. Does anyone know what year Lefever stop using bushed firing pins and concave ribs? Perhaps Bob Noble or Miller can help with this question?

OD; I only have one in the early range, a 10ga E grade, SN 10,515. It has bushed firing pins & a smooth concave rib. My next jumps to 20,633 A 12ga G grade. Also is full pistol grip with the guard tang extending all the way down to grip cap. Neither it nor any of my higher #'d guns have bushed firing pins & all have the flat engine turned rib. Am operating from memory right now, but seem to recall the 1889 catalog describes the engine turned rib, but don't recall if firing pin bushings are mentioned or not.

Miller, I have 10ga F grade SN 10513. I have a couple of these guns, Ill have to go get them out and double check the numbers and features.
OD, That is a very nice 16ga. Well worth the purchase price and probably double that. Ross

Thanks Ross, I'm enjoying the 16. Let us know what you find on your other Lefever numbers. Miller, My "E" 10598 has the concave rib, but rather than being smooth it has a light cut pattern all the way to the end. My later "GE" in the 22,6xx range has the flat rib and no bushed firing pins like your "G" 20,633...... For now, we have narrowed the time line of bushed pins and concave ribs between 1889 and 1893. Maybe someone else will post with a flat rib earlier than 1893, and we can further narrow the field in years between flat and concave ribs. Miller, the other thing I'm curious to know is if your "E" 10,515 has similar stippling on top like my "E" 16 in the image below. Anyone else out there have an early Lefever stippled like this on top? O-D _________________________________

O-D; There is no stippling on my E. There seems to be slightly more of the border scroll around it & it also has a scroll pattern on the side plates. When i got it, it had been re-finished & the receiver & sideplates are a bright blue, but there is no indication of the stippling having been there. It appears the bbls were rust blued & the fram, plates etc were either hot blued or niter blued. Kept meaning to strip & put back more proper, but never got it done. Incidently I checked that 1889 catalog & it did not mention the engine turned rib, the 1892 one does however. Have nothing in between.

OD, The stippled receiver is beautiful. I have not seen one and I own or have owned several Lefevers in the 10,000 range. By the way, what do we know about that lightly "engraved" rib pattern on concave ribs that was described earlier? I have a ten with that feature and it is a wonderful touch. Murphy
