The "factory" bluing can only be done by Tony Galazan, he purchased the rights from Olin to be the "factory" repair center. He will also furnish a letter noting same for provenance/resale. Other than that any GOOd doublegunsmith can do an excellent job. Best, Dr. BILL

The key word there is "Good". Tony is so high on his price that I feel he is totally out of line. I don't mind paying for good work, but he seems outrageous.

Just for the record, what is Tony's price? The lowest I know of by anyone I think of as "decent" is around $250.00 assuming no pitting, loose ribs, etc. Best, Dr. BILL

From the website...
* Reblue receiver including trigger guard, forend, trigger plate, and all screws and pins — $650.00. Reblue barrels — $350.00. Polishing included. Removal of heavy pitting or rust to be billed at an hourly rate.
My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income. - Errol Flynn

Just be sure your bluing guy knows how to take apart and put together the trigger parts. Lots of small parts and springs in there and I heard of guys who can't figure it out and do it with the parts assembled. Just what you need some caustic salts boiling around those tiny parts. I think I'd send it to Tony and not try to nickle dime it.

Classic Guns Inc. (John Gillette) will give your parts the origional carbonia blue used by Win. for $150. if gun is dis-assembled. He has done number of them for me and I have been very pleased with his work. FWIW, Ken

Garry, I do not think Tony's price is out of line particularly in view of the "Factory" letter that will come with it. Indeed it is money in the bank at time of trade/re-sale. I'm sure others can do thew work but the provenance from Tony, IMO, beats the few dollars "saved" elsewhere. Further you are assued of the "best". BILL

I know it's not a double but are Mod 12's any harder to reblue. Is there a Mod 12 forum?
