My new 20 ga O/U has an inertia trigger and was working fine with both reloads and new factory shells. I tried using Briley 410 inserts and it wouldn't fire 2nd barrel. I took out the inserts and now it won't work the factroy new 20 ga shells either. Other than call factory , which I will do on Monday , any suggestions?

Inertia, or, mechanical trigger? Guess if it has an inertia trigger, I’d attempt to reset it by dry firing the gun and then bumping the stock to see if I could figure out if it was resetting.

You are pretty vague about what you have. If you can’t get it to reset, and, it is new, maybe don’t take it apart, lest you end up with the Florida/Georgia warranty-Both halves, are yours

Its a 20 bore set up to use 20 bore loads , so its not going to work with 410's due to to insufficient recoil .
As to your other problem ,with out examination any suggestion would be a guess at best .
Your biggest problem is you bought a gun with out the correct number of triggers : grin grin

First of all, the inserts didn't cause the problem.

I know of 3 new Berettas that did this, 2 of them were mine.

Wood debris from stock inletting was the culprit each time.

Pull the stock, or have someone who knows how pull the stock if you're uncomfortable doing it.

Work everything over with an air hose.

What brand of gun is it? Just curious. If you bought it new, I would send it back to the company. Or take it back to the store where you bought it . I would not fool with It.

Are you hitting the primer at all when you fire the 2nd barrel? A relatively common problem with OUs can be the angle of the striker resulting in a very light primer strike.

About 40 years ago, I bought a 682 Beretta 20 gauge that would not work with American shells. Beretta shells worked just fine. Our shells are underpowered compared to the Italian firecrackers.

My only Beretta O/U is a 20 ga. 687 SP II Sporting. I have shot it at sporting and at doves for 21 years, bought new in '03. It has been to Cordoba twice and digested over 10,000 rounds there in a combined total of 8 days, plus all the shooting here at home. The single trigger has never malfunctioned one time. I've only used 7/8 oz. and 1 oz. loads in it.

So the gun is a Rizzini S2000. I followed advice offered here and played with it at home with snap caps, hitting butt on table and it worked fine. I shot it Sunday and it worked fine. I have a BR550 that you can switch barrels with it in the off position. I believe the S2000 has to be put back on safe and then switch barrels and then push forward. Other than this issue, which may have been operator error, I love the gun
