Hello All,

I watched this retail listing for 19 days, and although I just bought the John Rigby Brevex that used up all my squirreled-away cash, I couldn't pass up such a wonderful
rifle. Especially since it was Wayne Jacobson's personal hunting rifle. Wayne Jacobson's Custom AHR Rifles are well known among Big Bore Custom Rifles.

This is a custom 1979 tang safety Ruger 77 - one of my favorite rifles from my youth.

Imagine my delight to own Mr. AHR's hunting rifle. The upgraded features on this rifle are marvelous. Right up to par with my AHR 500 Jeffery Custom.

Although listed as a 375-338 wildcat, this cartridge is also known as the .375 Chatfield-Taylor - the little brother to the .416 Chatfield-Taylor (of which I own 2 rifles)
There is a ton of loading data available and 338 brass is plentiful and easy to form. Its possible to obtain 375 H&H performance with some creative hand-loading.
Although in my case I down-loaded the cartridge for Wisconsin Whitetail deer. I topped the rifle with a 4x32 I.O.R Valdada European Scope with 4A German reticle
and rotating eyepiece focusing. The weight of the rifle with the scope and loaded (3 down 1 up) trips the scale at 9 pounds 1 ounce. This extra weight helps to
reduce recoil.

Wayne had sent ahead the brass and dies so ammo was ready and waiting for the rifle to arrive. A fast trip to the range proved the rifle is ready for the field.

Thank you Wayne!

as always, your comments are welcome.

Buckstix,
I love that rifle! I’d say you got a great deal on given Wayne’s reputation for high quality work, plus he already developed the loads. I’m a big fan of Ruger 77’s. I had a tang safety 270 that I enjoyed greatly. I now have a M77 mkII in 6mm Remington which is my primary deer rifle. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I had a .375-.338 on a Argentine Mauser action,PacNor Barrel and Echols design stock.
Came with a page of load development notes, chamber mock up made from the reamer and set of dies and brass. It was a fairly light weight rifle and and very accurate to boot! Sold to a buddy and he was pleased.

My 1971 tang safety Ruger is a 7MM Remington Magnum. A sightfest about every three years over fifty years yielded a composite 100 yard group under an inch, most in one hole. I don't see the need for custom stocking this conservative design. Maybe a finish stripping and new finish and reshaping of the forend like on the AHR rifle would be enough. Since I haven't carried it on a hunting trip for decades, I should offer it up.
