Looking at an English "Best" side by side. Dealer says the wall thickness is 20th in each barrel. Knowing that the barrel will need re-blacking is this a concern with the wall thickness?

For me it would be a deal killer.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Was it proofed at .020? That seems awful thin, although, it was done sometimes. Not much to work with there.
Agree with Stan.

But where is this .020 on the barrels? If it is near the muzzle I wouldn't be worried if the price was right.

If there is any external rusting on the tubes best avoided.
If it is just honest wear to the existing bluing, could you live with it?
At that thickness an over enthusiastic polisher could well take too much off the thickness.

Need to know exactly where that spec is in the bore. Is it in both bores and where.
Do the bbl's need re-blue just for lack of color? Or are they pitted, etc and will need polishing (metal removed). If the latter, I'd pass. If it's just color, then it's possible to do that w/o striking, grit polishing, etc. It may not be the prettiest job ever. But it will have bluing back on it.
Plus what are the bore diameters of each bbl? Maybe it's been the recipient of an aggressive pit removal job in the bore(s) and that's where the thin tubes comes from.
If there are no clear answers,,then move on.

IMHO in the near future, there will be opportunity to purchase most whatever we would want. There's no need to compromise on thin barrels. Tomorrow there will be another opportunity. Patience is a virtue.
