I have been looking for a 12 ga. #7 1/4 or lighter, splinter fore-end L.C. Smith Crown grade for a Turnbull restoration. All the likely places have been searched for a good while: Guns international, Gun Broker, VFI, Steve Barnett, Puglisi, etc. Thanks in advance, if you know of one and can point me in the right direction.

Have you spoken with Josh Lowensteiner? He may have a lead on one. I thought I saw one for sale by Pat Mckune(?) on GI. Also Place an as on the LC club express site, if you are a member. Crowns and 5s show up every so often.

Good luck

I have spoken with Josh and he did not have anything right now. Pat has one but it has a beaver tail. Thanks for the suggestions though.

If the one at Pat McKune is suitable, have Turnbull reduce the beavertail down to a very minimal and slim semi-beavertail. He should be able to do it. You would like it. Splinter fore ends are overrated.

About a year ago I had a nice 16 GA Crown Grade. An LC Smith collector wanted it and-he got it.

I know where there is an ultra rare 410 Crown -2 barrel set is now. It is a bit pricey, since Smith only made 6 of this grade and caliber.
My Smiths now are confined to large "bird" guns- two (2) Long Range 3-in guns that keep up with my Super Fox for geese and turkeys.
The LC Smith is lighter in weight, however.

I would have a fore-end made before "slimming down", the original. I went back to look at the gun and it weighs nearly #8.25 so, it's not an option.
