It is hard to find high case colors condition pre-WWI Belgian tradename doubles. This is a c. 1900 Union Machine Co. by Simones, Janssen & Dumoulin.
SJ&D also tradenamed Prize Machine Gun, The Interchangable, The International, The Continental (carried by Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies), W.H. Hamilton, H.S. Brown,; often marked with the June 20, 1883 T.J. Bovy patent.
I suspect most tradename guns had case colors similar to that of U.S. makers

We've got a good collection of U.S. maker's colors, but I couldn't find a high condition Lefever. Could someone please post an image?

I haven't been able to find pre-WWII Spanish doubles with decent case colors.
It appears into the 60s some were bone charcoal

Ad today on Gun Broker for a French Saint-Etienne 12 ga SxS boxlock, barrels made by Didier Drevet 1907 - 12466?? chamber marked in cm 6.5. Gun was marketed apparently in Dieppe. Pretty gun; particularly like the stock. The seller claims the case colors (Jaspage) are original or a well done remake. Any comments on the case colors?

i've been watching that french gun for some time now....seller is slowly reducing the price - i think he started at $1500. i find the checkering pattern on the typically french "semi pistol grip" knob strikingly handsome....and the gun as a whole is tempting. that's a long time for original case colors to remain as crisp as they appear, but the overall condition of the gun shows little wear, and i don't see any telltale signs of refinishing - or, if so, the workman was very capable.

best regards,

tom
