Yet another interesting thread held back because this BBS will not join the 21st century and host it's own photos. Think of the lost info that was here at one time and is now gone....

Hi

I volunteered to post some pictures, and I sure got a lot. I am going to condense and edit things and try to tell
a story, so Sandlapper, please forgive me. I've also enhanced some of the images

First a handful of images that demonstrate that this is an NRA sporter

Now some images of the rifle (right side)

Okay, I need to stop here and start a new reply so that you can see more images rather than links.

I would say from the photos that it is not a G&H "Depression Sporter". They typically did more reshaping of the wood and added a horn tip and removed the barrel band. I would also like to comment on the note that said it was unusual to have a perfect bore, I have a large number of sporterized NRA Sporters and they all have perfect bores. Unlike some issue guns, the people who bought the NRA Sporters and had them remodeled took very good care of them. It is a nice sporter and I would have acquired it if I had the chance.

So exactly what is holding grown adult men back from simply uploading some images to a free photo hosting site, and then doing a simple copy-and-paste into a post here???? There is no need to join, pay a fee, or actually store images on many such sites, where they might be compromised or held hostage. Any who are too dumb to accomplish a simple task like that should ask their grandchildren to help them.

It takes all of 20 seconds to load and post any image I have stored in my Windows PC, and a few seconds longer with my I-Mac. People claim you cannot post an image from a mobile phone here, but I do it quite often. Guys who can't post a photo here probably shouldn't be allowed to handle firearms, and they certainly should not be allowed to vote. But hey.... we have supposed gun guys who are dumb enough to keep supporting anti-gun Democrats. You can't fix stupid.

Any photographs that are stored on any Photo Hosting site can be lost for various reasons, as we have seen. And those stored on other forums are no exception. The entire Lefever Forum was lost to hackers who took control of the site from the Administrators several years ago. Dave Weber would be nuts to have image hosting here, because if anything happened to them, the usual whiners and crybabies would blame Dave for all eternity. They already blame him for their own ineptitude now.

A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.

I like it. I agree with Dan, not a G&H, possibly a Stoeger, or one of many unknown gunsmiths, either professional or above average hobbyist, who possible ordered his parts from Stoeger. More surprising to me than the bore is the fact that it made it through all these years without anyone drilling any extra holes in the receiver or barrel. That is nearly impossible to find. Nice find, hope you enjoy it. I suspect if you shoot it you will be impressed with how it shoots.

Yes, I agree, it is very hard to find one of these old 03's that hasn't been butchered or neglected, especially for a fairly reasonable price. It's almost harder to find a military 03 that is original and unmessed with than one of these, and they made a couple of million of them vs. 6500. Thanks, Sandlapper
