The Leopold Bieder I bought has a leather recoil pad that is currently in good condition. I'm wondering how to care for the leather recoil pad so it doesn't deteriorate.
I have become addicted to English hammered shotguns to the detriment of my wallet.

I have a WW Greener with a similar pad.
The best treatment is quality shoe polish/paste wax like Kiwi brand. Neutral or the color of brown/black you prefer. It provides needed protection while eliminating drying out of the leather. Generally this method also does not soften the leather to the detriment of mounting the gun in field use.

Don’t be tempted to put silicone anything on it.

I agree with 1916XE. From the start I've used Kiwi black shoe polish on my leather pad, and it has worked extremely well. A touch up every now and then is all it's needed ever since it was new, and it has maintained it's beauty. I agree that anything silicone is insidious! Karl

Kiwi is good if you desire cheap shoe polish. I used it myself before I knew better.
The best which I use on my riding boots, brief case, shoes is Saphir
I use both their polish and leather cream.
It’s not cheap. But you guys like fine guns so it should not be a problem

Obenaufs heavy duty LP….a little goes a long way. Not often I agree withTthe Fuse, but this is one of them. Obenaufs is good stuff for boots and guns and gun cases, and gloves and mitts. But I do think it's possible to overthink this a bit. Anything is better than nothing and preparations designed for out of doors and sometimes a bit wet are going to be better than things like furniture polish and street shoe polish - maybe. A buddy uses mink oil and it works just fine for him.
