Marshal Zhukov wasn't a saint, but do we have the right to judge today those who can no longer answer and who have fully fulfilled their duty by winning that war?...

Interesting. I suspect Stalin could answer the question as to the fate of the guns if he was still with us! With Zhukov's contribution to bringing the war to a close it would be thought that they were but a small reward. Lagopus.....

I read the article on the GGCA Forum and also found it very interesting. The "machine" translation is very "strained" however and this should not take away from the information contained in the article itself.

Unfortunately, only Google translates for free.

Robertovich,
It doesn't make much difference which one does the translation, all of the "machine" translations are "strained", it is not your fault.

I remember seeing the video recording of Marshal Zhukov riding the white horse at the 1945 Victory Day event in Moscow and Stalin giving Zhukov the jealous "evil eye" as he rode by.

“Stink eye”. I get a version of that from the wife, all the time.

Great post again, Igor!

Sorry to change the subject... Here's is a video we can watch Fidel Castro and Nikita Khrushchev hunting with Purdeys, I think so.

Castro and Khrushchev hunting

28 ga, hammerguns and all shotguns and rifles made by hands.

I heard this story that might even be true.

Apparently the Russian Ambassador in London took Khrushchev’s pair of Purdey’s , that had been built for the Tsar, into Purdey for a service.

The guy behind the counter opened the case, made a note of the serial numbers and went off to look in a ledger.

He came back.

“I’m sorry Sir. We can’t handle these, they appear to be stolen!”
