Would somebody please help with a reloading question? I am having trouble finding the powder I usualy load 16 gauge with, but I have 8 pounds of Hodgdon Longshot I am using for 20 gauge I can find recipes for 12 gauge and 20 gauge but nothing for 16 gauge. It seems that I should be able to load 16 gauge with Longshot as it sits between 20Ga and 12 Ga. Does anyone have any information? I want to load Winchester Super X hulls, with Polywad Winchester AA clones and Cheddite primers, 1 oz. of shot. Thank you, Pete

I have a bunch of 2.5" 16-ga reloads on my shelves right now, but no 16 to shoot it in. I was wondering where that load came from recently because a couple of friends just got 16 gauges. It certainly wasn't Hodgdon. Guessing from the wad that I may have gotten it from Ballistic Products, Inc. But I cannot verify that.
Lyman's 5th is another possibility, but I am doubtful.

Lyman's 5th Edition has 1 ounce 16 gauge loads using Longshot with several hulls, wad, primers. I am sure you can use their data as a starting point.
I use 7625 and WSF in WAA16 hulls for my 16 gauge - all 7/8 and 1 oz. loads.

16.ga.com was the go to site for 16 loading information. Death and time may have changed that. Try them first. They had a spreadsheet of hundreds of tested loads for the 16.

16.ga.com was the go to site for 16 loading information. Death and time may have changed that. Try them first. They had a spreadsheet of hundreds of tested loads for the 16. In 1990 I began, with the help of several other people, to develop a comprehensive Excel spreadsheet of attributed 16 ga. loads. It has about 1000 loads currently and I offer it for free if contacted with an e-mail address to send it to. When the 16 gauge group was being formed I sent this list of loads to Russ Gray and that, I believe, was the genesis of the various lists going around now. I hoped to do my small part to keep those nice old guns shooting. If want the list, PM me with your e-mail and I'll send it along.

All the requests for the 16 gauge data file that I have received via PM have been e-mailed. Check your e-mail if you sent a request. Thanks.

I Load 16 gauge with longshot all the time. 21 grains of Longshot with 1oz of shot, cheddite primer and claybuster 16 gauge wad makes a fine low pressure load. I usually have to add 1 20 gauge nitro card wad in the bottom of the shotcup to get a good crimp.
