Haven't shot it yet, but disassembled and cleaned the action and lock in the ultrasonic. It was gummed up pretty bad ...... likely never been apart since it was built in Eibar. I was pleasantly surprised at the 5-pin lock quality, intercepting sear, cocking indicator, and a decent level of polish on it for a gun that sold at as low a price point as it did when originally built. The barrel had been honed to remove some constriction and only had .020" left when it arrived here. It's at the barrel shop as we speak to be threaded for a screw in choke, the constriction of which will be decided by actual patterning. Goal is to make it a high, pass shooting demon, with 1 7/8 - 2 oz. of TM or bismuth. It has a 36" vent-rib barrel, but at only 8 1/2 lbs. it handles surprisingly well.

I hate to give advice like "You have to buy this gun, you'll love it." However, in this case, it worked out. Mine has a 12 gauge chamber insert so I can use it without wasting my ten gauge shells on clay targets. Retail price on this gun in the sixties was $125.00.

Low end Spanish single trigger & 1 7/8 to 2 oz of shot makes me want to flinch just sitting here thinking about both bbls going off w/ a single pull.

In all seriousness I had a Garbi 103 A w/ a single non selective trigger that occasionally doubled from new & several good gunsmiths including the late Jack Haugh couldn't make it right (not a fan fire but true double) & I have seen this w/ some single trigger AYA guns so I would hope that you have thoroughly checked the gun out before spending $$ on it.

I'm not knocking your gun or Spanish guns in general but for me all single triggers on SxS guns are suspect until proven otherwise & that goes double for the Spanish ones.

Should be quite the long range waterfowl gun when finished.

Even the Winchester M21 SST. The one on mine (1939 YOM) never doubled, and I am still using it for preserve pheasants today. RWTF

The Zephyr Honker seldom doubles. It's a single barrel. Thanks for the warning though.

Well, he did say barrel rather than barrels but I was looking @ the lock plates & both have pins indicating a double gun.

No doubt the problem is solved re. any potential doubling issues by using a singe bbl gun.

They went to a surprising amount of trouble to duplicate the false pins and tumbler axis on the right hand lock plate.

Stan, Looks built like a tank with intercepting sear and with someone intercepting the other barrel to prevent doubling. Gil

I’m travelling down the same road. A Zephyr Honker choked 20 thou to be used on inland geese here in Scotland while I still can. I have 125 2 and 1/4 oz Winchester XX in BB 2s and 4s and at the other end of the spectrum a box of Eley 2 5/8 inch with 1 and 5/16 oz BB shot to use.

Are you considering adding some weight or a recoil reducing system to the stock ??

I have put a few cartridges through my gun using both 12 and 20 bore chamber inserts and enjoyed taking out a few clays.Looking forward to next season as I have access to some great inland goose shooting both greys and pinks.
If I could post photographs I would put up a couple of before and after stock work photos

Interesting gun. Can't say I've ever come across one Konor. But if you have found one then they must have been imported to the U.K. at some time back. Something to look out for! Lagopus.....
