Purdey Shotguns
Back Together After 50 Years

While out shooting last month, members of our team witnessed a very rare occurrence. Two pairs of consecutively numbered Purdey side-by-sides were reunited on the moors for the first time since they were completed in 1974, nearly fifty years ago.

Out On The Moor

The two pairs of 12-bores were completed in the summer of 1974 just a couple of months apart and have had very different lives and owners. The first pair were completed for a French firearms dealer, while the other were ordered by a New York-based client. They have minor differences - a flat-top rib and American comb for the New York pair, and a game-rib and English stock shape for the other.

Purdey Shotguns
Side-By-Side

Both guns enjoyed two lovely days of shooting in the beautiful Northumberland countryside alongside a number of other Purdey guns of different vintages and types. The team were out on East Allenheads, a moor which is no stranger to Purdey. The estate has strong ties to our former owner, Richard Beaumont, and our guns have been used there for many generations.
