Needed some reading material for the flight out here to Charlotte. I had forgotten how well-written this little missive is. I'm going to start giving it out for Christmas (provided I can still find a few copies). Mr. Fergus used to write for the Game News in Pennsylvania, so I was familiar with his work before getting this book. A quick read but...outstanding!

When I looked at the photo, I thought the rediscovery referred to the Continental Airlines boarding pass. Tells you how old I am that I remember the airline.

Makes a nice bookmark now, eh? It says I went to Houston for something back-in-the-day. Probably a job at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

some other good reads by him are A Hunters Book of Days and The Wingless Crow. I am looking for Thornapples by him sort of casually and have not read the Upland Equation so adding it to the list to track down.

I've got a boarding pass for a trip to Cordoba, Argentina in one of my Nash Buckingham books that I took to read on the flights there and back. Brings back good memories.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

An excerpt from Fergus's writing on the murderer of his mother; "Probably he thought I was rich. I remembered the times I had stood next to him, holding my double-barreled English shotgun, the fancy expensive one my friends liked to razz me about (of course he’d concluded I was rich). If only I had stumbled and knocked the safety off and accidentally pulled the trigger."
