First I've ever encountered them. Relatively inexpensive ($11/box), seemed to be consistent and well made. They shot fairly hard (brisk recoil, but good clay breaks). I'd have grabbed the Fiocchis (same price) but they were 8s and these were 71/2s. Really good selection of ammo at this local sporting clays club which was a first (in a long time), even sub-gauge stuff. Progress, eh?

Does the Biden ban (??) on Russian ammunition apply to shot shells also?

Perry, I’ll bet it does. Biden’s executive order is meant to be punitive to Russia. Doesn’t give a damn about us.

A Blast from the Past.

They have moved on a bit since these (65mm, No 7, 32gram?) were made.

A friend of mine, as a young man living in the countryside in the ‘60s used to feed the family “off the end of his gun”.

He used Baikal cartridges for reasons of economy and told me they were effective but “killed at both ends”

I used some Russian shells way back in the 90's. Dirtiest shooting shells I've ever used. But they all went bang and seems to pattern well.

Parabola, I still have some of those exact same cartridges! Baikal cartridges were sold widely in Britain in the 70's but I only ever saw them in 12 bore. Some were a bit loud but they absolutely shattered clays. We also had quite a few Polish ones which were a bit dirty but had the most spherical perfect shot I have ever seen in anything but the most expensive competition loads. Some clay grounds banned them because they said they were too noisy. Lagopus.....

Looking at their turnovers. I have the impression that the papers case walls are thinner than normal.

That may well have contributed to a good wad seal and the reported good patterns. They appear to have produced a quite impressive muzzle flashes well as the noise.
