Looking for a set of modern 12ga 30” barrels or a source for barrel blanks for a sleeve job. I say modern because the owner wants to shoot steel shot.
Anybody know a source for blanks? Have a set of Steven’s 311 barrels laying around?
Thanks, Bryndon

Would it be easier to start with like a plain barrel 870 barrel? Those can be found fairly cheap on EBay most times. Or would they have the wrong contouring?

I would think you problem might be contouring but then you can simply strike up a lone tubes on a lathe. Another snag may be the modern alloys used by many modern barrel manufacturers. We hit this snag using modern alloy sleeving tubes some years back which when welded gave a very different black finish to the original stubs. Only an aesthetic problem of course but it may be a consideration for your client. The tubes used in the UK come from Italy mainly, there are a couple of companies doing them, one is part of the Beretta clan, Franco Beretta I think. However, in the UK this has all become rather expensive and complicated by Brexit whereby stuff that was duty free before is now (sometimes) subject to duty. Of course nothing has changed for the USA importing from Europe. I suggest that if you go this route, you insist that the tubes are listed as 'Steel tube' on the commercial invoice, firearms not being mentioned at all. After all, until chambered that is exactly what they are. This should make life much easier for both importer and exporter.

Thanks to all for the replies. I think I have a solution for this time but if your lead comes to fruition please let me know as I will buy a few sets to have on hand. Seems like these specialty items are becoming more difficult to source every year

You might be able to get blank tubes from these folks. Hasting barrels http://www.hastingsbarrels.com/#:~:text=The%20Hastings%20Metro%20Barrel%20is%20ported%2C%2012ga%2C%2032-inch%2C,choice%20for%20sportsmen%20pursuing%20quarry%20in%20suburban%20areas. Track of the wolf carries 20ga barrels, you might want to contact them for a source of 12ga barrels https://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/655/1

I was in contact with https://www.midlandsgunservices.com/ last week and they informed me that they no longer offer sleeving but were happy to sell the remaining sleeving tubes they have for 300 GBP a set. I can import them for you if you are not in a hurry.

Bryndon, I would look carefully at the 311 tubes, as a lot of them, later guns from Savage, were brazed together.
