Looking for recommendations for a gunsmith to sleeve 28 gauge barrels. I know Kirk Merrington but he is backed up. Also understand Briley no longer does it. Any leads or suggestions appreciated.

the big issue will be getting sleever tubes in 28 bore. If Kirk has them I would get in line. You could send them to the UK but that gets pricey fast.

Anybody know roughly what Kirk charges for this type of work and how it turned out?

From his website:
Shotgun Barrel Work
Sleeving- Double Barrels:
12ga., 16ga., or 20ga.: From $2000 + Blueing and Engraving
Tubes for above sleeving job: From $600
New Ribs, if needed, for above: From $1000
Doesn't mention 28 gauge. Buddy had a gun sleeved by him. Saw pictures and it looked like the seam was invisible. Make sure you get someone who can match the blue on the sleeved section and the original section perfectly.

Kirk and myself are the only two offering sleeving in the US I’m aware of. Not sure if Hugh Lomas or Hosford are still in the game? Like him, my backlog is LONG. Expect around $3000-$3500 from both of us.

Expect around $3000-$3500 from both of us. For whatever my opinion is worth to anyone, Mr. Little (gunmaker) sleeved one barrel of a 32" Elsie Specialty for me and did a fantastic job. The right barrel had blown out sometime in the past on the gun and Pete Hiatt (sp?) had fitted a shorter OO grade barrel to the gun, but still had the original set with the blown tube. gunmaker's sleeve was completely seamless and perfectly matched the other tube of the set. I lucked out getting an introductory price from him when he first began doing this work...Geo
