I am interested in acquiring a Damascus barreled sxs with a blown barrel. Does anyone know of a smith that can replace barrels by fitting them into a monoblock made from the existing barrels? I have a Parker DH 10 ga. that has been monoblocked to a 12 ga. but don't know
who did the work. Also what would be the cost?
Regards

That just sounds like standard sleeving - have you checked with Kirk Merrington? It would probably be at least a few thousand dollars.

I and Kirk Merrington do it. You’re looking at around $3500.

I believe that Peter Dyson (www.peterdyson.co.uk) may still have some original Damascus tube with which he can re-sleeve Damascus to Damascus.

The quality of his work is superb and priced accordingly so it would only be financially sound if the original gun is of very high quality.
You would also have to allow for considerable shipping costs to and from England.

There are others who can sleeve steel tubes into Damascus breech ends, and you may well be able to find someone to do this Stateside.

Thanks for the replies. Can a blown Damascus barrel be repaired by welding?

Probably not a good idea. I've seen small holes and cracks welded, but I wouldn't shoot them...Geo
