Last week, I took out a bunch of guns, including my new sxs 410, and shot at a private range. I was about to join this club with trap, skeet, rifle and pistol ranges. That's on hold.
Last night, my wife got a text from our neighbor about 8 doors down the street (150 yds). She and her husband tested positive. She's asymtomatic, he's symtomatic, not doing too well, but not hospitalized. Their two young daughters (~14 & 8) are negative. Her parrents, visiting from out of town, are also positive. Her parents may have brought it from their air travel. But we don't know for sure, since (she) neighbor lady is a nurse at a local hospital.
To complicate things, the family (nurse and two girls, at least) is very lax about any guidance pertaining to Covid. They have been letting their daughters have sleepovers at their house as well as going to other homes. They had just invited us, two days ago, to attend a party for the birthday of one of the daughters (which my wife had declined).
The street I live on is 180 yds long and has about 18-20 houses. There has been daily unprotected socialization between several of the young kids, including the impacted family's daughters. We've had a daily dog play and happy hour daily with another neighbor, who's daughter plays with the impacted family's youngest daughter. We do sit apart, outside in the front yard and maintain precautions. The mapping of Covid I've seen has shown very little activity in our suburb city in the southern California sprawl of the greater Los Angeles area.
My wife cares for her 89 year old mother 4 days a week. We're going to get tested and quaranteen, then retest, so as to protect her mother. Things change quickly.

That's smart Chuck. Wash your hands, clean your hard surfaces, and lay low for a bit.
Quarantine isn't all that bad for a tinkerer.
Good Luck.
Out there doing it best I can.

Hope all works out well. We likely all have regular brushes with this virus without any realization.

A good friend and his wife, both in their late 60s, have just gotten over it. She is a school bus driver, and her bus monitor tested positive. She has had health issues in the past, and contracted it. Her husband also came down with it. Both were displaying symptoms at a serious level. They got on the medicines, stayed home, and cared for each other. Her symptoms were more severe, so he mostly cared for her. Friends brought over food.
They've both recovered now and are doing well. Hope y'all can get by without contracting it, Chuck. Maybe the light contact you've had with he neighbors will only build immunity for you both.
Best wishes, SRH

I still don't know anyone personally that has had or recovered from COVID. I guess my world is more in a bubble than I realized.
Hope you and family stay health Chuck!

Hope the testing turns out negative for you and your wife Chuck!
I get out hunting and fishing with exactly 2 friends, of which I've done both, with both. Other than shopping, I stay in the house with my wife or in the shop puttering around with reloading, woodworking projects and the like. I do head to my 94 year old mother's house about 55 miles down the road to check on her about every week. I know no one who has/had covid and we follow all the safety measures.
Take care!

This is real, it's very serious, and it deserves all the respect you can give it. Don't be lax in your safety measures and don't let your guard down just because it's not happened to anybody you know. One of my shooting buddies was an early casualty of this. He had just moved into a 'senior' living facility. That lasted about two weeks. https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/c...ath/5128737002/Larry had the most positive outlook of anybody I've ever met. He almost died as the result of an accident while serving in the army. He had to learn to read and write again due to the brain injury sustained. Every day was a gift to Larry. As you can see by the article, he did OK. He was a fan of mechanical shotguns, notably the A5, Model 50, and Model 59. He once 'skeletenized' a model 59 to see just how light a 12 gauge functioning automatic could be made. It was in the area of 4 pounds. We asked him when he was going to put a wing on one. Once an engineer, always an engineer. I was proud to call Larry a friend.

The randomness of its contagion and affect on folks is scary. I've known a half dozen folks who died from it with a range of ages from low 60s to mid 80s. Two locals that are relatives of friends have recovered but have had their health compromised permanently. It almost destroyed their lungs. One of my sisters contracted it with light symptoms. She lived with mom but moved out in April as the virus spread locally. Her job demands people contact and she had the good sense to move. Mom is 92 and lives by herself I go by for coffee several times a week. She is hunkered down and doing fine. Hope all here can avoid it. Gil
