Anyone else a bit puzzled by the quality of the photos for the Parker AHE article on p.55 of the 2020 Summer issue??

I would think with the digital technology available they would do better than that, the contrast is so high the pics lack detail and true color.

Bob,
Nobody did photography as well as William Headrick for the DGJ articles. I miss his fine work.

I don't subscribe to the DGJ so I'm only guessing at the article and photos that you are referring to. They were probably photos taken by the owner and yes he always over exposes his photos. I'm also guessing that the background was either large pebbles or a yellow towel. I guess he can since he is the owner of the gun(s). He does own one of the finest collection of Parkers and other American shotguns in the country. We should all be so fortunate.

I believe you are right in all respects Doug. Yes, the towel needs to go

In all the years Bill was providing photography to The Double Gun Journal, after every issue came out I'd have to live through a letter from him bitching about Cote's printer's color separation. Then we could get back to our usual things Ansley H. Fox. For Bill's work at its best, see some of his covers on Precision Shooting and Accurate Rifle.

I have in my gun room several of his prints framed, taken from the magazine of guns similar to or like my own. He was a professional perfectionist!

Photos and author are 2 different people. The are several colors of bright iridescent carpet or blankets as background.

I've seen this stuff before but not this bad. And I'm more surprised the publishers approve it.

The photographer and the author are definitely two different people.

Steve Cambria wrote the article but the gun's owner (CH) did the photography.
