I had the opportunity to see a 1900 era Horseley BLE. Really interesting gun and well made. Anyone have any info, pictures, or stories about Horseley box locks ?

There is a very good book:
Thomas Horsley: Gunmaker of York written by David J Baker and published in 2006. It is reasonably easily available.

Horseley or Horsley? Its written they got rough parts from the trade but built and finished guns in their shop. There are some fine examples out there, is the wood highly figured?

The stock is nice but not over the top. Lots of smoke.

The book is very good, but there are only a few photos of boxlocks. Mention is made of A&D's that were "bought in", but at least some of them received modifications depending on the customer's desires.

There are price lists from a couple catalogs. It would appear that "best gun" referred to hammerless sidelocks, and there are also prices for "cheaper hammerless guns" starting at 12 pounds in the 1897 catalog. Those are almost certainly boxlocks.

Also interesting that the safety is on the side of the stock as in a Greener.
