Would you say that the checkering pattern is common on a WR ? personally I`ve never seen it on one before but they`re not things that I`ve seen many of in better grades!

Thanks everyone for the replies and insight. I have a copy of the WR 1812-1912 Centennial catalogue as reproduced and this shotgun looks like the 70 guinea model depicted.

Agree the pad has to go�will either for a Silvers or possibly have one leather covered

I've had a fancy for the droplock action for many years. Wonderful design. Perhaps it was an inspiration for Perazzi,s drop out triggers.
I've had several over the years, all with single triggers that have worked flawlessly.
WR made many grades with varying engraving patterns---ditto for checkering.

I'd expect a quick call to WR would clear up most questions.

Based on "where there is smoke there is fire," I expect there is some level of unreliability among Brit single triggers. However, having used a Lard trigger extensively and had a lengthy visit with the out-worker who made the Lard, I'd expect it to be very reliable.

A few years ago a couple of us made up a WR droplock valuation chart. If we can nail down the original quality level and current condition level I'll post a valuation - Brand Value level 2 for WR - Original Quality grade X - Current Condition Y = $ZZZZZZ.
