I'm sitting in the marsh where it is incredibly slow this morning, and I just noticed this screw on my Cashmore hammergun. Can't figure out what it is for. Not really enough room between the barrels to reach the top rib. Any ideas?

That 2as my thought, but there seems to be no gap under the rib at that point. At least I don't think so. That's the best guess I can think of.

No, much too nice for one of his. No torch either.

I wonder if it could have some role in regulation? Doesn't seem likely

I had one with a rear sight screw in the top rib too close to the chambers. They managed to hit one of the barrels when they drilled the hole. I considered the barrels dangerous.

Brent, if you can remove the screw and see inside with a light you might want to be sure the same did not happen with your gun...Geo

Maybe old Ed was told to replace the bead, and when he got it all finished up, he noticed the bead was on the wrong rib. The chamfer drilled at the wrong angle was just the proper touch to let the world know it was indeed his craftsmanship we would be bearing witness to.
I looked at the picture, again. That really sucks, dude.

It can't be Ed, Ted. Nothing was drilled had a wrong angle. I think you are having a bad case of jOe this morning. I hope you get over it soon and have a better afternoon.

I guess you dont see the crummy chamfer around the screw, in your picture?

I bet a good gunsmith pukes in his mouth a little when he sees something like that.

I did.

Best,
Ted
