Looking for a gunsmith to do a very nice leather covered pad on a custom Rem Model 32. Ive seen Woodcock Hill provides this service. Is there another youd recommend?

I have been doing them for friends, no fancy tooling, $50, sorry not a FFL and can not do out of state work.

Not sure if Gunter Pfrommer, located in Fincastle, VA is still doing things but he may be close by. If not I have a guy, Tim Carrick located in Lexington, NC that has done several for me and turned out very good.

Bill, if he just sends you a butt stock for pad installation you dont need a FFL. If he send you the wood with receiver you would. Hate the way people want to split hairs. In most regards the receiver is the gun not the barrels or butt stock.
I still laugh when I see countless klunker receivers for sale on EBay which goes against FFL. They wont let you sell empty shot gun hulls, except as a decorative item, and yet you can see entire guns being sold in multiple listings.

Not to highjack this thread, but I thought a gun going for repair did not need an FFL on either end.

If you work on guns then you need an FFL. A gun going in for repair must be shipped to an FFL holder, the individual shipping the gun does not need an FFL.
